City tour & The city of Mitad del Mundo

Day 1

This day will begin with the tour of the colonial city of Quito, your bilingual guide will pick you up at the hotel to start the tour of the historic center of the city, the first place we will visit is the Plaza de la Independencia from where you can see the Governor's Palace, the Cathedral of the City and the Archbishop's Palace, After this we will visit the Church of the Company, one of the most beautiful and best preserved churches in Latin America, which has a characteristic baroque style and inside all its ornaments and decorations in gold leaf bath, after this visit we will visit the Plaza de San Francisco and its church full of stories and legends, characteristic of the colonial era.

Afterward, you'll visit the Virgen del Panecillo, a natural lookout over the city, where it is possible to see the division of the southern, central, and northern parts of the city.

The city of Mitad del Mundo is located in the north of the capital of Ecuador and as its name suggests is crossed by the equatorial line that separates the planet into two hemispheres, here accompanied by your guide you will visit the citadel and the monument of Mitad del Mundo and its history, after this visit we will go to the Intiñan Museum, in this interactive museum you will learn more about the division of the hemispheres, influence of gravity and magnetism by the equatorial line.

This short but extensive itinerary brings you into the very heart of the Ecuadorian capital and its surroundings. You will tour Quito's beautifully preserved historic center to see fine examples of colonial architecture, learn about history and culture at the Ethnographic Museum, and enjoy the best panoramic view of the city. The adventure continues north of Quito in Otavalo and Cotacachi, renowned for their local crafts. Finally, take a day trip to Cotopaxi National Park its namesake volcano is one of Ecuador's most famous natural landmarks.

Este día se iniciará el recorrido por la ciudad colonial de Quito, su guía bilingue los recogerá desde el hotel para iniciar el recorrido por el centro histórico de la ciudad, los primeros espacios que se visitará es la Plaza de la independencia desde la cual podrá observar el palacio de gobierno, la Catedral de la ciudad y el Palacio Arzobispal, posterior a esto se visitará la Iglesia de la Compañía una de las iglesias más bonitas y mejor conservadas de Latinoamérica, que cuenta con un estilo barroco caracteristico y en su interior toda su ornamenta y decoración en baño de pan de oro, posterior a esta visita recorreremos la Plaza de San Francisco y su Iglesia llena de historias y leyendas, caracteristicas de la epoca colonial.

La ciudad Mitad del Mundo se encuentra en el norte de la capital del Ecuador y como su nombre lo menciona es atravesado por la línea ecuatorial que divide el planeta en dos hemisferios, aquí acompañado por su guía realizará una visita por la ciudadela y visita almonumento de la Mitad del Mundo y su historia, posterior a esta visita pasaremos al Museo Intiñan, en este museo interactivo aprenderá más sobre la división de los hemisferios, influencia de la gravedad y magnetica por la línea ecuatorial.
